How to prepare for the Fortnite Galactus event

We’ve got the insight as to how to prepare for Fortnite’s highly anticipated Galactus event

With the Fortnite Galactus event right around the corner, it’s time to break down all the relevant information that is known at this point. First thing’s first, when and where?

After the v14.60 patch, the Fortnite home screen started ominously counting down from roughly two weeks. As you might be able to predict, this is the countdown for the Galactus in-game event.

When this timer expires, the exact date and time will be December 1st @ 4PM EST.

Fortnite confirmed this timeline via tweet:

For those around the globe, this translates to 1PM PST and 9PM GST.

Similarly to previous in-game events, all game modes will be unavailable for queue shortly before the event is slated to begin. You’ll be able to queue for an “observer” lobby where fighting is disabled. You can still queue with friends and the lobby will be populated with other players.

Prominent leaker HypeX dug through the game files (not a spoiler) and notes that the timer will start flashing red once the deadline approaches:

Make sure that you’ve followed Epic Games’ checklist to ensure that you’re ready for the event and won’t miss out

Download the Latest Update

If you haven’t already downloaded the 14.60 update, load the game on your preferred device and download today.

Download Houseparty

Fortnite’s new integration with Houseparty means you can have live video chat in Fortnite (PC, PS4/PS5) while attending the event.

Get in Early!

We’ve taken measures to ensure more people can attend the event, but we still recommend everyone log into Fortnite at least 60 minutes prior to the event’s start. The event playlist is expected to go live 30 minutes prior to the start time.

Fortnite and top leakers have kept a pretty tight lid on the contents of the Galactus event… and for good reason. You don’t want the fun getting spoiled, right? Regardless, we do have some potential Season 5 meta changes that you should prepare for.

Return of Launch Pads?

Ahead of the Season 5 *launch* (pun intended), Fortnite added the launch pad assets back into the game files:

Fortnite has added and removed launch pads multiple times since the launch of Chapter 2. The competitive implication of having launch pads in the competitive loot pool is potentially the largest meta shift, especially in team-based game modes .

With duos expected to be on the competitive spotlight for Season 5, expect to play in an environment similar to Chapter 2 Season 2, when duos FNCS and an abundance of mobility were the key highlights.

If you’re looking to get ahead of the curve and optimize your duos strategy before everyone else, make sure to book a coaching session with our top rated pro players today!

The next few weeks will be a pivotal period for Fortnite with all the mystery surrounding how much will change next season. We’ll keep you updated!
